Wild Animal Encounters Increasing on German Roads

A wolf was killed in a traffic accident on the A24 near Berlin on Wednesday, police said. The incident is the latest in a series of encounters between wild animals and vehicles on German roads.

According to the German Hunting Association (DJV), the number of wildlife accidents has increased significantly in recent years. In 2021, more than 290,000 such accidents were reported, resulting in around 3,000 injuries and 50 deaths.

The most common animals involved in accidents are deer, wild boar, and foxes. However, wolves and other larger predators are also increasingly being killed on roads.
